Some history to remember

In the early 1920s, the Jubilee Pavilion was erected by the Board of Parks Commission of Oshawa, which would also be the future home of a restaurant and dance hall in Lakeview Park. The official opening took place on July 1st, 1927. The name “Jubilee Pavilion” commemorates Canada’s Diamond Jubilee – 60 years of Confederation. Over the years the name for the Jubilee has come to be known as “The Jube” by the locals. In the summer months of the 1920s and 30s the Jubilee held dances 6 nights a week. In September 1931, after a popular dance known as the Midnight Frolic, the Jubilee was devastated by a fire. The Jubilee was eventually restored and open again for business. In the mid-1980s the Central Lions Club took over the operation of the Jubilee. They were responsible for bringing the Jubilee back to the community projects through their famous Bingo Nights! The last game was held in January 1999.

In 2005, Danny restored the Jubilee Pavilion to its original purpose. After extensive renovations of the kitchen and restoration of the original dance floor, the Jubilee has become Oshawa’s hidden gem by the lake. The Jubilee has restored life back to Lakeview Park, by offering services like, the snack bar, off-site catering, and hall receptions and on-site ceremonies.
